EasyPDF Studio Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
EasyPDF Studio ("the extension") is a Chrome extension for viewing, editing, filling, signing, converting and chatting with PDF files. This policy explains what data the extension handles and where it goes.
Summary
- Your PDFs are opened, edited, signed and converted on your own device. They are not uploaded to our servers. We don't operate any servers for this extension.
- We do not collect analytics, track your browsing, show ads, or sell any data.
- The optional AI features (Chat PDF and Parallel Translate) send the text of the PDF you are working on to Anthropic's Claude API, using an API key that you provide.
Data stored on your device
The extension uses Chrome's local storage and IndexedDB on your computer to store:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Settings (including your Anthropic API key, if you add one) | Remember your preferences and enable AI features |
| Saved signatures | Let you reuse a signature |
| Unsaved annotation drafts | Restore your edits if you close a PDF before saving |
| Recently opened PDF addresses and names | Show your recent files |
| PDFs you save to "My Files" | Quick access to your documents |
This data never leaves your device except as described below. You can delete it at any time by removing items in the extension, or by uninstalling the extension, which deletes all of it.
Data sent to third parties
Anthropic (only when you use AI features). When you use Chat PDF or Parallel Translate, the extension sends the text of the open PDF (or the passage you selected), your question, and your API key directly from your browser to Anthropic's API at api.anthropic.com to generate a response. Nothing is sent if you never add an API key or never use these features. Anthropic processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Websites hosting PDFs. When you open an online PDF, the extension downloads it from the website that hosts it, just as Chrome would.
Permissions
The extension requests access to websites so it can open PDFs hosted on any site in its viewer and contact the Anthropic API for AI features. It doesn't read or change the content of other web pages.
Children
The extension isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
